Healthy homemade muesli

Healthy homemade muesli

Most of the places I travel (meaning 3rd world countries) only has imported muesli, which means it will cost you around £7 for a small bag and will last approximately up to one week. Get some fruits and milk on top, and you’re looking at luxury priced hotel breakfast. Not ideal if you’re trying to budget. Here is the solution I came up with. (more…)

Visiting Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

Visiting Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

I’ve always been fascinated by elephants but the first time I encountered an elephant in a non zoo environment back in 2013, when I rode around and washed them in Chang Mai, left me with beautiful pictures, however oddly cold feelings. It was my first big trip and everything around felt so exciting, including elephant rides. But if I had to choose now, I wouldn’t do it. (more…)

Karimunjawa Travel Guide. Another paradise found?

Karimunjawa Travel Guide. Another paradise found?

The idyllic group of 27 tropical islands that form the Karimunjawa Islands is one of those places that is amazing to visit, yet has very few visitors. It’s located about 90km off the north coast of Central Java and due to it’s location visitors in Java have to deviate from the normal route through the island which generally goes Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Bromo, Bali. But changing up this standard itinerary really allows you to access some less visited places such as these islands. (more…)

Back to the past. Ancient city of Fenghuang

Fenghuang (Phoenix) Ancient Town, an old town built up in Qing Dynasty, is still being kept in its original appearance with 300 years passed. It is also one of the most famous and most picturesque ancient towns of China.

Fenghuang is insanely beautiful and, of course, incredibly popular among Chinese and foreign tourists and I would definitely put it on the must see list, if you’re near by. It is like a maze of quiet street-alleys where you can get lost exploring and feel the old town breathing. However, most of the time Fenghuang is over crowded. Saying that, my biggest disappointment was evening scenery. It looks beautiful in the dark but with the high demand of tourists it turns into clubbing paradise and looses its charm. (more…)

More than Terracotta Warriors: other things to see and do in Xi’an

Terracotta Warriors Museum

Without a doubt one of China’s most famous and popular tourist sites, the Terracotta Warriors is the most impressive underground attraction in China. This incredible collection of well over 6,000 figures was accidentally unearthed by a group of peasants trying to dig a well in 1974. Instead of water, they found a 2,000-year-old statue of a warrior made to protect the Tomb of the Emperor Qin Shi Huang, the founder of the Qin Dynasty and the first man to rule over a unified China. Fast-forward thirty-some years and the emperor’s underground army has become an enormously popular tourist destination. (more…)
